Different Grades of Jade

There are three sorts of jade totally. As described below:

Sort 1 – this kind of jade is very nature that has not been dealt with high-temperature and high pressure. It only undergoes processes of washing by plum juice and polishing by beeswax. More and more people like this kind of jade, despite it has high price. After some treatments, it would become Sort 2 and 3.

Sort 2 – This kind of jade is a factitiously treated jade which is oxygenated and hydrolyzed with oxides like iron, magnesium and calcium which can change the jade’s color into brown, black, orange or grey. Strong acids are used for its treatment to remove the impurities and the original color of jade is not affected by powerful acid treatment. However this jade can change color or become unstable with the passage of time.

Sort 3 – In order to remove impurities and improve the color, this kind of jade is the result of some chemical processing. The color will look impressive but will not retain its quality with the passage of time.
